QUESTIONS:
If you have any questions, send me an email at sjwlaw@gmail.com. Send your cell phone number as well so I can call you.
PARKING...
Regarding the potluck lunch, parking is behind Culleoka school. You should be able to enter either off Moorsville Pike or by going around the old front of the school (like you were going to a ball game in 1988 or 1989). The parking lot is what used to be the outfield for the old ball fields.
Saturday, September 12: The BIG DAY!!!
Alright you stragglers, here's the word: If you have not registered, come on anyway! The lunch potluck begins at 11:30 at the new Culleoka School cafeteria. Bring a dish and just come on! We're going to have a blast! If you still want to come to the main event in the evening, at Park Place in Columbia, talk to me or Tracey at lunch on Saturday. See ya'll then!

We need photographs!
In order to conjure those old memories... and to embarass us all, we need all the 1980s photos of classmates that we can get. If you'll just make sure each of your photos has (on the back) your name, address and telephone, we'll make sure it gets back to you after the reunion. Please send them to P.O. Box 411, Columbia. Thanks!
July 26 planning meeting has surprise guest
The Reuion Planning Committee met again on Sunday, July 26. Present were Tracey Cheek Peery, John Holt, Jason Whatley, Clarissa Clauss, Kim Riley Wilder, Linda Lynn Whatley and Julie Beaver Buffington. John Isabell offered some comic relief via telephone from Florida. (John was nominated to continue his routine at the reunion!) The main emphasis of the meeting was to bring the 1988 members up to speed on planning progress thus far. Clarissa gratiously volunteered to lead up the decorating effort for at least the evening event. I also motion that she lead up the same for the lunch event. Do I hear a second? [SECOND....] Thank you, the motion carries...
We also shored up address for the 1988 members. All of you should be receiving a formal invitation with registration form by mail. If you have not received yours by the end of this week (week of July 26), please contact Jason Whatley at sjwlaw@gmail.com.
Our next planning meeting is Sunday, August 9, 2009 again at Legends. All are welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Official Reunion Announcement!
1988 and 1989 Culleoka Alums:
We are proud to announce that the Culleoka Classes of 1988 and 1989 are celebrating the 21st and 20th anniversaries of graduating from Culleoka School on September 12, 2009. A committee made up of members of both classes has worked hard to arrange what will undoubtedly be a great time of celebration and reunion.
We have arranged for two events on September 12. First, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., we will be having “pot luck” lunch together in the new Culleoka school cafeteria. We are inviting a host of teachers, some of whom will be offering remarks and memories. There will also be the opportunity to tour the new school facilities. You are encouraged to bring your family to this fellowship as such will be a great opportunity to introduce them to your old classmates. The new practice gymnasium, next door to the new cafeteria, will be open for age-appropriate children to play.
For the 11:30 event only, we are asking each alum to bring an entrée, side, dessert and/or drink as directed by our food committee. Those attending will be contacted by a member of that committee to confirm what they will bring. As a general rule, your dish would need to be enough to feed your own family. Please arrive with your dish at 11:15 so that we can get the buffet arranged by 11:30 or so.
We will re-group that evening from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for dinner at “Park Place”, a banquet/catering establishment at 2433 Park Plus Drive in Columbia. (Believe it or not, this is the old “Rumors” facility now very nicely converted!) This will be a fully catered event (buffet style) for each alum and his/her guest. We will have a very fun and memory-provoking program for this event (not to mention the ambiance of some good old 1980s tunes!).
We are attempting to gather photographs and videos of classmates that will be used at one or both events. If you have such photos of yourself or classmates (all pride being laid aside), please consider allowing the committee to borrow those for use with the event. We will be sure to mark the back of your photograph and have the same retuned to you after the reunion. The committee is confident that both classes can enjoy some good laughs at each other’s big hair, acid-washed jeans and all other styles that made the “Big 80s” what it was.
As with any event like this, we need all the help we can get. So please consider volunteering to help with the areas identified in the response form (downloadable from this blog). You should also know that our Culleoka Reunion Planning Committee consists simply of those who have thus far shown interest in planning (Trula Dean Prince, John Holt, Scott LeBlanc, Tracey Peery, Kevin Troupe and Jason Whatley). The doors are wide open to anyone who would assist. Our next meeting is scheduled for July 26 at 3:00 p.m. at Legends Restaurant in Columbia. Please feel free to show up if you have interest in helping with the planning efforts.
The total fee, which includes the cost of both events, is $25.00 per adult. Please make checks made payable to “Culleoka Reunion Committee”. Special thanks to Tracey Peery (Cheek) who has volunteered to serve as our treasurer.
It is very important that we hear from each of you, even if you cannot attend. Given the size of our respective classes, good attendance is a must for a successful reunion effort. So please join the fun and respond as soon as possible. For consistency sake, please return the enclosed form (with your check) to the following “snail mail” address: P.O. Box 411, Columbia, TN 38402-0411.
Also, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of the following committee members:
John Holt; holt987@bellsouth.net; 987-9412;
Tracey Peery; turkeyleaves@aol.com;
Kevin Troupe; troopek@comcast.net; or
Jason Whatley; sjwlaw@gmail.com; 490-8615 (h); 698-7168
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the reunion this fall!
